ELIAS M. TERMAN – B.A. in Economics from San Diego
State University, Masters in Pacific International Affairs with
an Area emphasis in Latin America and a Career Concentration in
International Business Management from University of California
San Diego. Mr. Terman is co-author of How to Sell Your Product
in Mexico (AmCham 1993) as well as the author of various articles
and publications on business and technology as they relate to
the US Hispanic and Latin American markets. In a 1998 consulting
contract, Mr. Terman, together with Carlos Cordeiro, wrote an
application to the Mexican Government for a national long distance
concession and lobbied the Mexican Government for the application's
successful approval. He was a co-founder of Designet, a web development
firm based in Mexico City where he managed 35 employees and was
the creator, founder and CEO of etrato.com, Inc., a bilingual
trading community and auction site which he sold to Quepasa.com,
Inc. in December of 1999 for $15 million. Mr. Terman also served
as a Vice President at Quepasa – at the time, the leading
portal for the US Hispanic Community. He lived in Mexico City
for 8 years and currently resides in San Diego, California. He
is fluent in English and Spanish.
KARL McDERMOTT – Masters Degree in Engineering
and Management (distinction), Kingston University and Kingston
Business School, UK. Several diplomas granted by IBM Executive
Education in strategic planning, marketing and finance. Mr. McDermott
has founded several technology and service companies in Latin
America. He has a proven track record in building a profitable
business from scratch, SSE, to a recognized market leader, with
revenues in excess of $5 million. Most recently, as SSE’s
CEO, he grew sales 100% a year for four years in both Mexico and
Brazil. Mr.
McDermott has lived in Mexico for the past 10 years and is fluent
in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
